学校坚持“立足交通、服务地方，面向全国，走向世界”的办学定位，紧紧围绕“交通强国”“海洋强国”“航运强国”“长三角一体化”等国家发展战略设置专业，以为综合交通运输体系建设输送高质量高素质技术技能人才为办学宗旨，形成了“以水上交通运输类专业为主体，陆上交通类专业和航空类专业为两翼，各专业协调发展”的专业布局，目前拥有国家骨干高职院校重点建设专业4个、国家骨干专业9个、全国交通运输类示范专业点3个、中央财政支持提升专业服务产业发展能力重点专业2个，在全国高职院校中独树一帜。

学校校园占地面积近1000亩，校舍建筑面积达36万多平方米。建有6个国家级职业教育实训基地、14个省级职业教育实训基地、3个南通市重点实验室；建有江苏省船舶工程技术研究开发中心等省市级科技服务机构13个；建有40多个校内实训基地、200多个校外实习就业基地；与企业合作共建有“海澜之舟”“长阳门”“长春门”3条生产性教学实习船。

学校现有全日制普通教育学生近万人，成人学历教育在校生2000多人，设有航海技术、轮机工程、船舶与海洋工程、运输管理与经济、交通工程、智能制造与信息、人文艺术等7个二级学院40个专业，另有马克思主义学院和基础教学部两个公共课教学单位。学校按照ISO9001：2015质量标准建有教育质量管理体系，同时，培训质量管理体系通过了挪威船级社的认证审核。

学校现有专任教师432人，其中正高级职称人员40人，高级职称人员比例超过50%，具有硕士及以上学位人员比例达75%，专业教师“双师”素质比例达83.1%。学校有一大批高层次高职教育领军人才，其中国务院特殊津贴获得者3名，全国交通高职教育专业带头人5名，全国交通职业教育教学名师4名，江苏省高等学校教学名师3名，江苏工匠9名，江苏省交通运输系统教学名师18名，南通市高校教学名师11名，江苏省“333高层次人才培养工程”高层次人才12人，江苏省高校“青蓝工程”中青年学术带头人10名，江苏省技术能手12人，江苏省交通系统“100人才工程”人选等其他各级各类优秀人才60多名。拥有江苏省优秀教学团队6个，江苏省科技创新团队6个。学校专业教师积极参加国家重大项目与工程，1人次参加了亚丁湾护航，4人次参加了国家南北极科考，2人次参加南海岛礁吹填项目。

学校教育教学改革成绩突出，牵头制定了轮机工程技术、船舶机械工程技术、水路运输与海事管理、港口机械与自动控制、港口与航道工程技术等5个国家专业教学标准，拥有国家级精品课程、精品资源共享课程、精品在线开放课程5门，省级精品课程、在线开放课程、英文授课精品课程31门，2014年、2018年，学校连续两届荣获国家教学成果一等奖，是全国交通高职院校唯一的双冠王。

学校设有“国家职业技能鉴定所”“交通运输部全国交通运输行业职业技能鉴定站”“教育部教育管理信息中心南通培训基地”“中国海事服务中心南通培训基地”“江苏省航道技能人才教育培训基地”“江苏省海员培训中心”“上海交通大学网络学院南通远程学习中心”等培训机构（基地）。年短期职业培训规模达2万人次以上。

Jiangsu Shipping College (hereinafter referred to as college) is a full-time college of higher learning approved by the Government of Jiangsu Province. Founded in 1960, the college is attached to the Transportation Department of Jiangsu Province. College is located in Nantong, a livable garden city in the Yangtze River delta area. Nantong, situated in the north wing of Sutong Bridge, is well-known as Sports Town, Education Town, Architecture Town and Longevity Town. Adhering to the orientation of serve local based on transportation and facing the Nation and going to the world, the college sets up majors closely focusing on the national development strategies such as the integration of transportation, ocean, shipping and Yangtza River Delta. It has formed a professional layout with the majors of water transportation as the main body, the majors of road and aviation transportation as the supporting. At present, it owns four key construction majors in national backbone Vocational College, nine national key specialties, three nationwide transportation demonstration specialty locations and two key specialties supported by central finance to improve the development ability of professional service industry. And it has already become one of the unique in the National Higher Vocational Colleges.

Jiangsu Shipping College covers an area of nearly 1000 mu, with a building area of more than 360000 square meters.There are 6 national vocational education training bases, 14 provincial vocational education training bases and 3 Nantong key laboratories. The college has 13 provincial and municipal science ＆ technology service institutions, such as Jiangsu Ship Engineering Technology Research ＆ Development Center. There are more than 40 campus training bases and more than 200 off campus internship and employment bases. 3 production teaching practice ships named Ocean Boat, Changyang Gate and Changchun Gate are built in cooperation with enterprises.

The college has nearly 10000 students in full-time education and more than 2000 students in adult education.There are 7 schools with 40 majors, including Navigation ,Marine Engineering,Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering,Transportation Management and Economics,Transportation 　Engineering,Intelligent Manufacturing and Information Technology,Arts and Humanities. In addition, there are two public teaching units including School of Marxism and Department of Liberal Studies.The college has established an Education Quality Management System in accordance with ISO9001:2015 quality standard. Moreover, the training quality management system has passed the certification audit of det Norske Veritas.

The college now has 421 full-time teachers, 40 of whom are senior professional titles,accounting for 50% of the teaching staff. The proportion of people with master's degree or above is 75%, and the proportion of double-qualified teachers is 92.3%. The College also boasts of a large number of high-level vocational education talents, including 3 state council special allowance winners, 5 national academic leaders of vocational education, 3national teaching masters award winners,3 provincial teaching masters award winners, 1craftsman in Jiangsu Province , 15 teaching masters in the transportation systems of Jiangsu province, 10 teaching masters in universities of Nantong, Jiangsu province, 12 high-level talents selected for 333 high-level personnel training project, 9 middle-aged and young academic leaders for the blue project in universities , and more than 30 outstanding faculty members ranking among “100 talents project”candidates in transportation system ofThere are 6 excellent teaching teams and 6 scientific and technological innovation teams at the provincial level. Our college has made outstanding achievements in educational reform. It has made teaching standards for the following majors: marine engineering, ship mechanic engineering, water transportation and maritime management, port mechanic and automatic, port and waterway engineering.

It has five national quality courses, quality resource sharing courses, quality online open courses. It also has 31 courses including provincial quality courses and online open courses and English teaching quality courses.

In 2014 and 2018, the college won the first prize of national teaching achievement for two consecutive times, and it is the only school who won double crown of national transportation vocational colleges.

The college has national vocational skills appraisal institute, national vocational skills appraisal station of the Ministry of transport, Nantong training base of Education Management Information Center of the Ministry of education, Nantong training base of China Maritime Service Center, Jiangsu channel skilled personnel education and training base, Jiangsu seafarer training center, Nantong distance learning of Network College of Shanghai Jiaotong University Learning Center and other training institutions (bases). The annual short-term vocational training scale is more than 20000 person times.

The college enjoys a high reputation in domestic higher vocational colleges and has a high academic status.It is the chairman unit of the National Navigation Vocational Education Group, the chairman unit of the Vocational Education Branch of the China Institute of Communications Education, the executive vice chairman unit of the Jiangsu Navigation Institute, and chairman unit of the Zhenghe Research Association of Jiangsu Province.
