Jiuzhaigou Middle School is located in The World Natural Heritage List, the World Biosphere Reserve, "green global 21", national Five A level tourist attractions, and other international and domestic titles of Jiuzhaigou. Founded in 1958, Jiuzhaigou County Middle School, formerly known as Nanping Junior High School and Nanping County Middle School, was officially renamed Jiuzhaigou County Middle School in 1998. It is a state-level demonstration high school. In August 2005, it moved to Yongfeng New Area of Jiuzhaigou County.
The school covers an area of 162.2 mu, with a newly built complex building integrating teaching, music, dance, gymnastics, art, multimedia, library, academic lecture hall, student apartment building, teachers and students canteen complex building, eight runways standard plastic sports ground and artificial turf football field. Among them, there is a comprehensive teaching building with a floor area of 13,502 square meters. The building area of Student No.1 apartment is 4,263 square meters, student No.2 apartment is 4,263.6 square meters, student canteen is 4,818 square meters, sports ground is 20,689 square meters. As a common resource between the school and the county, the architectural facilities such as art swimming pool, tennis court and performance hall are about to be completed and put into use.
The school now has 44 classes and 176 staff members, including 13 senior teachers, 46 intermediate teachers and 2204 students.

In recent years, schools have been rated as "aba patriotic health advanced unit", "aba peace construction demonstration unit", "aba demonstration parent school", "aba outstanding youth league", "jiuzhaigou county civilized unit", "jiuzhaigou county safe civilized unit", "jiuzhaigou county to create safe campus demonstration school", "jiuzhaigou county earthquake hazard popular science demonstration school", "jiuzhaigou county comprehensive management model unit". Five teachers have been awarded such honorary titles as "Model Young Teachers of Sichuan Province", "Outstanding Teachers of Sichuan Province" and "Provincial Advanced Sports Workers". Six teachers were awarded as "Model Worker of Aba Prefecture", "Top ten Outstanding Youth of Aba Prefecture", "Outstanding Teacher of Aba Prefecture" and "Top ten Outstanding Young Teachers of Aba Prefecture" respectively. Some teachers have published more than 30 papers in national newspapers and periodicals, more than 40 papers in provincial newspapers and periodicals, and 11 papers at state level. To organize and guide students to win 13 prizes in national knowledge contests and 26 prizes in provincial knowledge contests. The key sub-project of the National Education science "tenth five-year plan" undertaken by the school -- "Integration of Information Technology in Schools in Minority Areas and Teaching of various subjects in Middle schools" was successfully concluded in April 2006 after a one-year research project, and was awarded the third prize of Aba Science and Technology Progress award. There are 14 projects at the provincial and state level that have been declared and are under study (6 of which are at the state level and 8 at the provincial level).
